GREEN HOMES: THE FUTURE OF TORONTO

Times are changing and with the times changing we need to change to towards a better environmental future.

To understand this topic first of all we need to understand ‘What is a Green Home’?

Green homes are homes that are built to maximize the efficiency of energy and water as well as provide a cleaner and healthier air quality inside the house. The beautiful thing about the word "green" is that it captures two of the most important things that most people care about: their health, and their money. And there is a wonderful third reason to go green: The community benefits in the long run, because it is better for the planet.

Below we will pen down the benefits of Green Homes over Traditional Homes:

1.       Lower cost of home ownership
2.       Lower energy bills
3.       Lower water bills
4.       Healthier indoor air quality
5.       Comfort – Since green homes tend to have better insulation, they produce less temperature variations between rooms and minimize drafts.
6.       Incentives – Green homes qualify for a number of different incentives. Utility rebates, grants, property tax incentives, low-interest loans and building permit fee waivers to name just a few.
7.       Quieter – Triple-paned windows and increased insulation do a better job preventing sound from entering the home.
8.       Lower maintenance requirements and costs
9.       Reduced wastes going to landfill
10.   Economic benefits will increase with time
11.   Increased Resale value
12.   Is environmental friendly
13.   Helps increase demand for and lower the cost of green technology
14.   Demonstrates you care about the planet your children and their children will inherit
15.   Contribution to keep our planet earth better

There are many builders today in Toronto who have started to build Environment Friendly Green Homes. With these changes slowly going on we are hoping to have more and more Green Homes in Toronto in the future making Toronto; the future of Green Homes.
