REAL ESTATE TIPS FOR EMPTY NESTERS

Children moving out can be an unpleasant experience for parents. Your house which was a lively home is more or less empty now. It is then that many parents make a decision of downsizing into something more suitable and affordable. This is a great step as there is no point in keeping a huge house with so many things to look after and maintain when you can sell this house at a great price and move into a house/condo that will suit your need of the hour. But before you take this step there are some things to pay attention to.

1.       BE PATIENT: In real estate one should always be patient and not rush into deals. Take your time, research, look and then select the right buyer with a right price. Before putting your house in the market for sale; do some improvements in the house to increase the value of your house. Do not wait too long to decide if you want to move ahead in your life by selling a house or not. If you wait too long you might no longer have the same zeal to move out and start over again.
2.       SIZE: Downsizing doesn’t mean you have to move into a tiny home (not that you can’t); ideally you would want something smaller that suits you but still large enough to take a guest or two especially when your children come to visit you on their vacations.
3.       LOCATION:  Now that you are moving into your new home choose a location that speaks to you. Since now you do not have to worry about schools, or a kid friendly atmosphere etc; you can choose a location to cater to your interest and choice. If you are a golfer you can now choose a house close to a golf course. Water loving people or sailors can choose something by the water. You’re never going to want to be too far from family but a new home will open you up to all manner of lifestyle amenities you didn’t even know you needed.
4.       TURN THE PROFIT INTO LEISURE: When you downsize all the profit you make by selling your huge house can help you to turn your life into an adventure and leisurely moments. The money you save now on your monthly expenditure plus the profit you made by selling should be used wisely but not too wisely. There is nothing wrong in enjoying yourself. See the world. Go for Spa. There are so many options for you to now go out and enjoy.

Being an empty nester doesn’t need to be sad and lonely life.A lot of opportunities can open up for you bringing positive changes in your life in the form of freedom, adventure, travel, savings, time and so much more.
